My whole life i have only been to a stadium once to watch a live match and that too a local match between the now defunct Jurong F.C play against home utd...but this month alone i beat that to watch two games and even one in K.L... I really enjoyed the feeling and i think i might frequent matches more and support our local league..
Anihoo it started out with watching man utd play against the malaysian national team at Bukit Jalil Stadium the funny thing was the game was on a Sat and i only knew i was getting my leave approved on Friday and i only got my tickets on my way to K.L... I had a torrid time there due to logistics and jam plus i went there right after work and was struggling to keep myself awake.. but the minute i got in the stadium i was swept by the stadium filled with Red Devilz decked out with replica jerseys and scarves towels and what nots, i was amazed to see so many Singaporeans so many other nationalities filling a stadium for one common love the one and only Red Devils..it was nice to my favourite team live, hahah i loved the atmosphere but unfortunately didnt get to buy any memorabilia..
As usual the liverpool game also i got the ticket two days before the game, why was i an ardent Man Utd Fan watching a pool game? hahah i was there to support Singapore and to set foot in the national stadium once at least before it goes down.. It was similar carnival atmosphere and with most of the instructions coming in english i managed to enjoy it more and to feel the kallang roar in its might was awesome.. But one thing i noticed in difference was the lack of patriots in Singapore... In K.L in between every pack of Man Utd Fans there were people who were there for the Malaysian teams, each time they came close or even scored the raptures were there but singapore was like the away team without travelling supporters.. If i was a player i would have no motivation to play when the whole stadium was just there for Liverpool... But i guess u get to watch the national team often liverpool maybe once or twice in your life so i guess its all good..
Anyways to those who have not caught a live game its worth your time and our local leagues ticket is probably lesser than a meal at McDonalds so why dont you support our local boys and give them something to play for.. In the english leagues even if we dnt support them the locals will but our boys have no one but us... I will be trying my best to catch some games anyone keen let me know kiess...
P.S i was not paid by Singapore Pools nor did i suddenly gain a partriotism never seen before.. It was seeing the national teams faces when no one gave two hoots about them..
